Host: Jen Spencer

If you've looked at the agenda for this year's conference, the first thing you probably noticed is that there are literally hundreds of sessions to choose from. Unfortunately, that means it's simply impossible for you to attend all of these amazing sessions. You've got the challenge of choosing and prioritizing how you'll spend your time in Boston.

But we’re here to help. That’s why we started our Countdown to INBOUND series a few weeks ago. We’re giving you the inside scoop on all things INBOUND to help you decide which sessions to attend.

So, with that in mind, two more team members — Benji Bateman, Marketing Consultant and Amber Kemmis, VP of Client Services — came on this week’s episode of SmartBug on Tap to share two more sessions you don't want to miss.

The Session Benji Is Most Excited About

First, the Details

The “must-attend” session Benji is recommending this year will be given by HubSpot's Principal Product Marketing Manager, Service Hub, the one and only Marcus Andrews.

His session is titled "The Customer Revolution — What Empowered Customers Want, How to Build Your Flywheel Around Them, and Why They Are the New Secret to Growth." It will take place Friday, September 6th at 1:15pm.

What It’s All About

This year Marcus' session is all about empowering customers.

If you attended INBOUND last year or have been keeping up with HubSpot at all, then you know that the new secret to growth is all about how you treat your customers.

Customers are smarter than they've ever been, more educated than they've ever been, and have higher expectations than ever before.

So, as a business owner, that means you have to figure out how to minimize friction with your customers, keep them happy, and ultimately encourage them to spend more money with your business.

That's exactly what you'll learn in this session.

Why You Should Attend

Out of all the sessions, why should you attend this one?

Well, first off, Marcus has been working at HubSpot for over four years now.

As a Product Marketing Manager, he's responsible for creating go-to-market strategies and launching new products at HubSpot.

On top of that, before Marcus joined HubSpot, he spent some time working with another little company you've probably heard of: Google.

In other words, Marcus is the real deal.

Back in 2016, Benji attended one of Marcus' other INBOUND sessions. Out of all of the sessions he attended that year, he felt that Marcus' was not only the most valuable, but also the most memorable.

And not only was he able to walk away with some great takeaways, he was able to connect with Marcus on LinkedIn and has stayed in touch ever since.

That's a great reminder to choose your session, not just based on the insights you'd like to learn, but who you'd like to have in your professional network.

So, if you want to learn some great insights and get to know a great person, this is the session for you.

The Session Amber Is Most Excited About

First, the Details

Amber couldn't be more excited to see two of the biggest competitors in the marketing automation world talk about marketing strategies from their experience. That’s why she’s attending the session called “Marketing Then & Now: A Fireside Chat with Marketo's Co-Founder Phil Fernandez and HubSpot's CMO Kipp Bodnar.”

This session will take place on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:45am and, as the title suggests, will feature a conversation between Phil Fernandez, Co-Founder of Marketo, and Kipp Bodnar, HubSpot's CMO.

What It’s All About

This conversation will be centered around topics like:

  • How marketing has evolved over the past ten years
  • What’s changed since each of these companies were formed
  • What hasn’t changed
  • And what new strategies you need to master to succeed in the next ten years

Why You Should Attend

Phil and Kipp are key players in the industry.

They’ve made an impact in some pretty big ways.

So, just hearing about their experiences will be really beneficial.

In addition to that, marketing is always changing. In order to stay successful, you’ve got to be aware of new strategies and tools coming down the pipeline. So, it will be interesting to hear Phil and Kipp share their thoughts on what trends marketers need to pay special attention to as we move into the future of marketing.

Hopefully, we’ve given you an inside look at what to expect out of these two sessions. And we hope that helps you decide which sessions are on your must-attend list.
