Founded in 2016, Comparably is a compensation, culture, and career-monitoring site that aims to increase workplace transparency. According to the company, Best Company Culture award winners were chosen based on anonymous employee feedback. Nominations were not required, nor were any participation fees.
Employees were asked more than 50 questions across several core culture categories, including compensation, leadership, professional development, work-life balance, and perks and benefits. Nearly 10 million ratings were given by employees from 50,000 companies across the United States over a year-long period (Nov. 26, 2017–Nov. 26, 2018).
Among similarly sized companies, SmartBug Media ranked in the top 5 percent for leadership and compensation. According to the results, SmartBug Media’s employees look forward to working with one another, believe the atmosphere at the company is positive, and are extremely optimistic about the company’s future.
