FTC Issues Guidelines To Prevent Native Ads From Crossing Into "Deception" Territory

As so-called “native ads” have become increasingly popular critics have argued they’re effective because consumers can’t tell them apart from actual “content.” Proponents say, by contrast, that they provide a better user experience and don’t disrupt enjoyment of content. The FTC has now stepped into the fray and issued guidelines for publishers and marketers to prevent native ad formats and their presentation from running afoul of federal rules surrounding truth in advertising. Google Introduces Interactive 360-Degree Storytelling on YouTube

Google brings Google spotlight stories to the YouTube app. This new storytelling format is currently only available on select Android devices, but it’s coming to “more Android devices and the YouTube iOS app” next year. Read More

Helpful Ways to Grow Your Inbound Marketing

State of Inbound Analysis: Takeaways For Your Blogging Strategy

HubSpot’s seventh annual State of Inbound report analyzes data from thousands of marketing and sales professionals and reports on the lead-to-customer lifecycle that both parties are tasked with refining. The report found that three out of four marketers—75%—"prioritize an inbound approach to marketing.” Maybe because, according to the report, inbound campaigns show higher return on investment (ROI) than outbound, regardless of company size and budget.  Read More

The Inbox Report

A new survey from Fluent examined U.S. consumers’ perceptions of email in 2015 and provides insights into how marketers can better utilize this channel. Thirty-six percent of respondents say they “never find marketing emails useful,” while only 11% and 9% say they “often” or “always” find marketing emails to be useful, respectively. Thirty-five percent of respondents say that “receiving emails too often” is their main reason for unsubscribing. The other reasons provided are “content is irrelevant or not useful” (21%), they “didn’t sign up for the list” (16%) or “don’t trust the source” (14%). Read More
